From a musical family in Dublin, John Doyle started his professional musical career at the young age of 16 with the group Chanting House. He is a founding member of the highly acclaimed super group, Solas that led him to performing worldwide. Since, John has performed, directed and composed music for various projects and regularly features on BBC Scotland’s “Transatlantic Sessions”. His signature guitar sound, singing and songwriting is deemed essential to many of the stellar artists in Irish traditional music. 

Hailing from the Cooley Mountains in County Louth, John McIntyre grew up immersed in the language, songs and traditional dance music of southwest Donegal - his father's homeplace. John has toured extensively worldwide, on many famous stages and festivals, has worked alongside many world-renowned producers and is now producing and recording in many genres. He performs in a duo with Zoë Conway, who have been described as “simply one of the best folk duos on the planet”.

The Summer School’s team of tutors is made up of internationally renowned performers with proven track records as teachers and educationalists. The primary means of teaching and learning will be ‘by ear’ with an emphasis in the less experienced classes of assisting pupils to develop oral/aural skills in addition to instrumental competency and developing core repertoire. All classes are designed for intermediate to advanced (minimum 2 years instrument experience) adults and children over 6 years of age except beginner instrument classes, whistle and sing, set dancing, sean nós dancing, traditional singing & sean nós singing which are suitable for all levels including beginners.
